Condition the Concrete Surface. Use the same thin set mortar, but only apply a thin skim coat with a smooth trowel. This process is much like putting a coat of primer under paint. Once the skim coat dries, you will have a smooth and clean masonry surface on which to install your tiles. This do it yourself video How to tile an exterior concrete stairs - Part 1 or how to tile outdoor concrete steps and how to tile outdoor patio shows in details the process of tiling outside.
In this how-to video, This Old House general contractor Tom Silva shows how to conceal ugly concrete with wood-composite lumber
Adopting Continuous Improvement To stay competitive, UniCo needs to reduce lead time, costs to deliver the product and thus ensure that the plant is profitable. The process of continuous improvement consists of 5 main steps: • Identify system constraints: In this first step, the system constraints must be identified. The entire system must have at least one constraint but will usually have a very small number of constraints. The goal by eliyahu goldratt chapter summaries. The easiest way to keep the plant efficiency is adopting a method of continuous improvement so that as time goes by the factory becomes.
In this video, This Old House general contractor Tom Silva explains how to deck over a concrete stoop.
Steps:
1. Cut PVC trim boards to wrap around stoop using circular saw.
2. Counterbore holes in PVC trim with ½-inch-diameter spade bit.
3. Apply foam adhesive to back of trim.
4. Run bead of hot-melt glue across miter joints and press trim board against stoop.
5. Drill holes through each counterbore and into the concrete for tap-in masonry anchors.
6. Attach trim boards to concrete with masonry anchors; tap in anchors with hammer, then finish with a nail set
7. Use a drill and ½-inch-diameter plug cutter to cut plugs from PVC trim.
8. Install plugs into the counterbored holes using hot-melt glue; trim the plugs flush with a sharp chisel.
9. Attach the wood-composite decking to the top of the concrete stoop using the same masonry anchors.
10. Conceal each anchor in decking with a plug cut from a composite decking board.
11. Sweep decking clean of all debris.
